Monday

TULSA, Okla. (June 28, 2010) – Michael Manners, Willis, Texas, and Lee Callaway, Channelview, Texas, took the wins today for the extended NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Tulsa Raceway Park.  Persistent rain showers on Sunday forced the completion of final eliminations to Monday.

Manners qualified No. 1 then worked his way through the Top Alcohol Dragster field for a date with James Copeland in the final.  Manners clicked off a 5.364 second pass at 265.53 mph for the win.  Manners ran 5.448, 260.46 and 5.309, 274.50 in rounds 1 and 2.

Callaway defeated Oklahoma City racer Ron Morrison in round 1 then had a bye run in round 2 on his way to the final in Top Alcohol Funny Car where he faced off with Chris Foster, Davenport, Iowa.  Callaway easily won with a 5.832 second lap at 237.00 mph.

A trio of Oklahoma racers joined in on the winner’s circle celebration as Kevin Self, Caddo, Okla., beat Glen Treadwell in Comp Eliminator and a battle of roadsters; Super Stock honors went to Claremore, Okla., racer Bryan Chaney in his ’92 Camaro over Allan Patterson; and Ronald Gibson, Norman, Okla., clocked in at 7.245 seconds, 187.76 mph to win the division’s TCI Comp Cams Top Dragster class.

Slate Cummings, Hammond, La., and South Central Division Super Comp defending champion Tommy Phillips picked up wins to go along with their national event wins back in April at Houston Raceway Park.  Cummings defeated Jacob Pitt in Stock while Phillips won in his ’57 Corvette over Brian Heath in Super Gas.

Other winners included Richard Pierson, Edgewood, Texas, in Super Comp; Tim Forshee, Wichita, Kan., in Super Street; Mark Pickens, Germantown, Tenn., in the Sunset Racecraft Top Sportsman class; and Jerry Pomilla, Conroe, Texas in Sportsman Motorcycle presented by Harley Davidson.

South Central Division racers head to No Problem Raceway for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, September 17-19.

TULSA, Okla. – Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car drivers made their final qualifying runs Saturday for this weekend’s NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at Tulsa Raceway Park.  Winners will take home their share of the prize money along with the coveted NHRA Wally trophy during winner’s circle. 

Racing starts up at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning with round 1 of Top Alcohol Dragsters and Funny Cars set for 11 a.m.  Tickets are $20 for adults, children 6-12 are just $5 and kids 5 and under are free with paid adult. TULSA, Okla. – The National Hot Rod Association returned to Tulsa Raceway Park this weekend for NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series  competition in the South Central Division.  Racing kicked off today with qualifying and time trials for more than 400 racers in eleven different classes battling it out on the quarter mile for both championship points and their share of the event purse and contingency payouts.

Saturday’s action will include a Nitro Funny Car match race between Dale Creasy and Jack Wyatt with fans also being treated with a special guest appearance by three-time NHRA World Champion Shirley Muldowney who will be signing autographs throughout the day.

Qualifying continues on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. with Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, and Comp Eliminator drivers making their final qualifying attempts at noon and 5 p.m.  Top Alcohol Dragsters and Funny Cars have qualifying runs scheduled for 1:30 and 6:30 p.m.  Tickets are $20 for adults and children 6-12 are just $5 and kids 5 and under are free with paid adult.  For more information, please call Tulsa Raceway Park, (918) 437-7223 or visit www.tulsaracewaypark.com.

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa Raceway revs up this weekend June 25-27 for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series South Central divisional event. The event, originally scheduled for May 14-16, was rescheduled due to heavy rains in the area. Drivers will be earning points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $560,000.

Gates at Tulsa Raceway Park open at 8 a.m. each day. Top Dragster, Comp Eliminator and Top Sportsman qualify twice on Friday at noon and 5 p.m. and have two sessions on Saturday at noon and 5 p.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car have one qualifying session on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and two on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Eliminations begin Sunday at 9 a.m. with Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car running round 1 at noon.

TULSA RACEWAY PARK SPRING NATIONALS: Fact Sheet

WHAT: Tulsa Raceway Park Spring Nationals, is one of five in the NHRA South Central Division where NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series drivers earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $560,000.  Categories include Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division’s Sunset RaceCraft Top Sportsman Series, TCI Comp Cams Top Dragster Series and NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson will also be run in conjunction with the event.

SCHEDULE: FRIDAY, June 25 - Gates open at 8 a.m. Time Trials start at 9 a.m. Top Dragster, Comp Eliminator and Top Sportsman qualifies at noon and 5 p.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualifying session is scheduled at 6:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, June 26 - Gates open at 8 a.m. Time Trials start at 9 a.m. Top Dragster, Comp Eliminator and Top Sportsman qualifying starts at noon and 5 p.m.  Qualifying for Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Special exhibition show – two Nitro Funny Cars scheduled to run at 5 and 7 p.m.

SUNDAY, June 27 - Gates open at 8 a.m. Eliminations start at 9 am. Round 1 for Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car begin at noon.

BONUS  PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND - a $561,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2010 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional champions and national champions. 

Divisional awards include $8,500 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions; $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street.  The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

EXHIBITION AND SPECIAL GUEST:  Nitro Funny Cars make their return to Tulsa! JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA’s seven divisions will compete for a share of the $119,000 point fund from Jegs High Performance.  The 2010 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA’s Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series’ eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster.  The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2010 Jegs Allstars during the United Association Route 66 NHRA Nationals, June 3-6, 2010.  Points are based on in-division races only. 

The winning division’s team will share $20,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions.  Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece.  Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a “double up” bonus to Jegs Allstars participants.  Any 2010 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.

SUNSET RACECRAFT Top Sportsman Series: Run in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Series, competitors in the Top Sportsman class are vying for division championships.  The top points finisher will earn a year-end bonus of $1,000 and the runner-up will get $500.  Top Sportsman racers may run the seven South Central Division Lucas Oil events as well as three Lucas Oil Series races in the other NHRA divisions.

TCI COMP CAMS TOP DRAGSTER SERIES: Run in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Series, competitors in the Top Dragster class are vying for division championships.  The top points finisher will earn a year-end bonus of $1,500 and the runner-up will get $800.

NHRA SPORTSMAN MOTORCYCLE SERIES presented by HARLEY DAVIDSON: The NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in NHRA’s Sportsman Motorcycle class to earn points toward divisional championships.  The $14,000 champions’ purse posted by Harley Davidson will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers in NHRA divisions that host Sportsman Motorcycles.
